新竹市立動物園為全臺「位於原址」最古老的動物園，最早可追溯至日本時期。動物園與一旁的假日花市，成了市民們最喜愛的假日遊憩去處。新竹市政府推行「新竹公園再生計畫」後，希望打造「小而美」的動物園，讓園區成為最適合親子的「生命教育場域」，使孩子能夠尊重、愛惜不同物種的生命。

Hsinchu Zoo is the oldest zoo in Taiwan that has remained in the same location. Its origin dates back to the Japanese colonial period. Alongside the nearby Weekend Flower Market, they have become one of the most popular recreational destinations for the locals. Following the implementation of the "Hsinchu Park Regeneration Project," the Hsinchu City Government aims to transform the zoo into a "small but beautiful" space, making it an ideal "life education venue” for families. The goal is to foster respect and appreciation for the lives of various species among children.
